Over 4 Million people search for the word 'anxiety' or 'panic' on google each month.
You've come to this page because you're one of them.
Imagine if you weren't part of this crowd anymore?
Imagine if anxiety was the furthest thing from your mind, and instead, you were using
the internet for something else?
Anxiety can be disabling. It's awful. It can really be the opposite of 'life' at times. And let's
face it - sometimes it's just plain ridiculous. We know that the situation doesn't warrant
the level of anxiety we're feeling...and sometimes we feel anxious for no apparent reason at all.
What really works for anxiety and panic?
The question, "what treatments work for anxiety?" is a scientific question and has to be answered with scientific studies. It cannot be fully answered by testimonials or opinions - even though these may point the way. In order to answer this question, I reviewed the most recent scientific evidence for each of the common treatments and have summarized this information for you in my new book, Anxious but Happy.
Why is the book called, Anxious but Happy? Well, that's how I describe the last few years of my anxiety disorder. I had lot's of great things going on in my life, but still experienced daily anxiety. I had learnt how to live with anxiety and still have a great life, and so I was anxious, but happy. Now, I've completely recovered and haven't had anxiety or panic for over 6 years, and I teach other people that they can do the same.
As a user of the internet, you know that there is information overload, and that you need someone you can trust to guide you to the best information - and that's the reason I have written this book. Anxious but Happy is a fantastic new resource with 3 unique features.

Anxious but Happy is the book I wish I'd read when I had anxiety. Here's a look at what's inside:
Chapter 1: Anxiety: Such an inadequate word to describe the experience
In this chapter I describe anxiety disorder and the symptoms associated with it. I also provide the official definitions of anxiety as recognized by the American Psychiatric Association so that you can see where you (or your friend or loved one) might fit in.
Chapter 2: Who gets anxiety?
It can be really helpful to understand just how common anxiety is - especially if you're at the stage where you don't know anyone else who has it and you think that you're alone with this. Rather than just saying 'it's common', I've reviewed the research evidence and have included it in this chapter. In fact, this information is so important to know that I've provided you with access to this chapter free of charge - just fill out your details in the form at the top of this page and I'll send it to you.
Chapter 3: When panic attacked: My Story
This story gives you an inside look at what was going on in my head while I had anxiety. From the first panic attack, the onset of generalized anxiety disorder, the onset of symptoms such as depersonalization, right through to my complete recovery - this chapter explains it all.
Chapter 4: The anxiety 'server': a brief look at the brain
By understanding what is going on in the brain of someone who has anxiety, you find that you become less 'anxious' about anxiety. By educating yourself about what's really going on, you can take the anxiety out of anxiety disorder, and you can take the panic out of panic attacks. And don't worry about it being too complex. I've kept this chapter very straightforward and have used simple analogies to explain complex brain function.
Chapter 5: Make it go away. A look at treatment and management
This is the chapter on treatment. I review medication, psychological therapies, behavioural therapy, self-help therapy, exercise, Yoga, herbal remedies, and I touch on spiritual issues. The information in this chapter is based on highly technical research papers - but I have described it in easy to follow, conversational language.
Chapter 6: So, are you cured yet?
What about life after anxiety? Wouldn't that be a good focus? In this chapter I discuss some further options for recovering from anxiety. Health education isn't just about recovery - it's also about helping people live a happy and successful life.

ANXIOUS but Happy
From the foreword of Anxious but Happy
"Those of you who read this book because you believe that you may have an anxiety disorder are fortunate."
"The author has produced a highly informative book that deals with anxiety as viewed through the prism of his own experiences and written in a light hearted manner that belies to some extent the degree to which sufferers of anxiety disorders can be disabled by their condition."
"It is my opinion that this book fills a need for a well written dissertation on the subject of anxiety disorders clearly directed at the sufferer or their relatives and friends who would like to better understand the condition. It is clear, concise, accurate, easily readable and recommended."
